Applied to paintings, “provenance”
refers to the authenticity
of the origin of a painting.

Charlie Spratt

Charlie’s paintings speak with purposeful brush strokes and a compelling use of light and colour, causing viewers to pause and recall their own emotions and memories when connecting with his work.

Each painting bears a description and catalogue number inscribed on the back. There are no prints or copies. Each painting is unique, a treasure to own and appreciate every day. A gift for generations.

Never just a picture. Rather, a statement that commands a central place in any home.

Four decades of painting, guidance from wonderful artists and a never-ending artistic journey inspires Charlie to paint every day.

Charles Spratt is a well-known Canadian artist with the gift, skill
and ability to draw and paint
that has spanned decades.

Charlie’s gift to draw was recognized early in his childhood by his teacher when requested he draw Disney characters on the blackboard of their one-room schoolhouse.

In his youth, his time after school was spent with his dog
in the fields and forests near his home, where he developed a life-long appreciation for the natural world.

Following an engineering degree and two years working in the North, Charlie joined the family company, married, and became absorbed in business and raising a family.

Under the mentorship of renowned painter,
Grant Tigner, Charlie experienced an epiphany at age 40 and knew he had to become an artist.

When he turned 65, the family company was sold and he was free to pursue his dream. As his artistic skills progressed, his paintings found their way to galleries in Ottawa, Manotick, Markham, Halibuton, Calgary and Baie-St-Paul.

Charlie continues to paint most days and leads artist
groups on regular plein air trips each summer.
